Security guard at Belgian nuclear site ‘targeted by terrorists

A security worker at a Belgian nuclear site which has been reportedly been targeted by terrorists has been killed, according to local media.

He has also had his access badge for Doel nuclear plant, in the city of Charleroi, stolen.

The report, which comes from Derniere Heure, claims the worker was walking his dog when the attack happened. He was reportedly shot dead.

It is claimed that the worker was killed two days after Islamic State terrorists struck in Brussels, killing at least 31 and injuring more than 270 in attacks at an airport and the metro on Tuesday.

The same paper has previously claimed this week that Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui, two of the suicide bombers involved in the atrocity, were planning a terror attack at the nuclear site.

As a result, the nuclear plant has stepped up its security.
